It can be overwhelming especially if you\u2019re a novice in learning more about this topic. We\u2019re in no way experts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is Gender Non-conforming ?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The meaning<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This individual is someone who doesn\u2019t live based on <strong>the stereotypical ideas<\/strong> of what genders and gender expression are supposed to be. They don&#8217;t believe in quintessential masculinity and femininity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gender Non-conformity VS. Gender Fluidity<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Gender non-conformity<\/strong> is different from <b>gender fluidity<\/b>. A gender-fluid person is someone who\u2019s comfortable in switching between being a woman and a man; which makes the latter, amenable to the <strong>stereotypes of gender identities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Non-binary and Genderqueer<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>These two are quite similar to <strong>gender non-conforming<\/strong>. They see <strong>genders as gray<\/strong> as opposed to being black and white.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re still confused, take for example the pieces of clothing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A mini-skirt is normally worn by women. However, for <strong>a gender non-conforming person<\/strong>, it\u2019s just a piece of clothing. They feel that it can be worn by them and can be mixed with what\u2019s known as a typical piece of clothing made for a guy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>To sum it up, <strong>gender non-conforming people<\/strong> simply can\u2019t be defined by how they look like.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is Gender Binary ?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><strong>The gender binary is classified<\/strong><\/strong> as the two distinct opposites. They are what we most commonly know as the classic gender roles; men and women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Transgender people mostly belong in this category too.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A lot of them just switch to <strong>the opposite gender<\/strong> that they identify with from their assigned genders at birth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Below is a list of characteristics for <strong>the two genders<\/strong> from common cultural and societal beliefs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-pale-cyan-blue-background-color has-background\"><strong>Men :<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>strong<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>masculine<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>tough<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>hard workers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>s*xually active<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>brave<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>big<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>active<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>logical<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-pale-pink-background-color has-background\"><strong>Women :<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>gentle<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>fragile<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>calm<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>motherly<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>s*xually passive<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>persuasive<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>petite<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>passive<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>emotional<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The list above doesn\u2019t reflect what we think <strong>about certain genders<\/strong>. Those characteristics are what\u2019s commonly associated respectively with the two. We did not create this section to cause division or misogyny. Some have not come out while some have, but just not in the media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Stigma with Gender Non-conforming people<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Sadly, in today\u2019s world, people who <strong>don\u2019t conform to binarism<\/strong> still get a lot of flak. Some feminists even discredit their existence. Just like how they discredit the womanhood of <a class=\"ek-link ek-link\" href=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/definitions\">transgender women<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While transgender people are gaining more acceptance and inclusion in society, the fight isn\u2019t over. They are made fun of a lot most especially through memes. However, people don\u2019t have to get too involved in getting to know gender identities. People should just start accepting others for who they are and how they express themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[[SIGNUP]]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gender Non-Conforming Flag<strong>&nbsp;Pride Flags<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It\u2019s made up of two lavender margins at the top and bottom<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enclosed within the two borders are lavender exteriors representing the blurring of conventional gender roles<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pink and blue fields (transgender flag colors)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>While white represents freedom of gender expression<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/07\/tumblr_172e051fa554ecf59520987fc2ae721e_ccd8d416_500.png\" alt=\"Gender Non-Conforming Flag\" class=\"wp-image-1533\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/07\/tumblr_172e051fa554ecf59520987fc2ae721e_ccd8d416_500.png 500w, https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/07\/tumblr_172e051fa554ecf59520987fc2ae721e_ccd8d416_500-300x180.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>The flag and its other variants<strong> <\/strong>may also be used by anyone who doesn\u2019t conform to gender norms. These people may also be called:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>gender variant<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>gender diverse<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>gender non-conforming<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>genderqueer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>gender-atypical<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Non-binary Flag<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Another popular non-conforming flag is the non-binary flag which was created by Kye Rowan in December 2014. It has four colors in horizontal stripes that represent different meanings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Yellow represents genders outside of the binary<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The white stripe represents all genders<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The purple represents people who feel that they have mixed female and male characteristics.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Black is for the ones who don\u2019t identify with genders or don\u2019t think a certain gender exists to represent them<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Genderqueer Flag<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It has three stripes with the colors purple, white, and green.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The purple color is for the ones who feel that they\u2019re a mix of male and female.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>White is for gender neutral individuals<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Green represents people outside the binary as it\u2019s the inverse color of purple<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gender.wikia.org\/wiki\/Pride_Flags#Nonbinary_Flag\">See more Pride Flags here<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pride Month<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Gender non-conforming<\/strong> and <strong>non-binary people<\/strong> have been active lately in <a class=\"ek-link ek-link\" href=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/2020\/06\/pride-month-what-you-must-know\/\">Pride marches<\/a>. They\u2019re considered to be a part of the LGBTQIA+ community. Denying their existence is denying what the Pride marches are all about. <strong>Inclusivity, acceptance, and understanding<\/strong> all play big roles in changing the world into a better place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you come across someone in a Pride march who\u2019s from this spectrum, do not trivialize them. Do not make jokes about what you quirkily identify with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who are they attracted to ?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This individual can be <strong>attracted to anyone<\/strong>. To be safe, use the pronouns they, their, and them. Added to that, don\u2019t make silly jokes about how you suddenly identify as something else. This will make them feel like you\u2019re trivializing <strong>their gender identity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oftentimes, in comedy pages in social media, gender non-conforming people and non-binary individuals are made fun of. We\u2019ve reiterated this in case you have missed the other section.
