Please know that this guide wasn\u2019t created to offend a group of people. This was made for educational purposes only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What does queer mean?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The word describes a lot of LGBT people who don\u2019t want to be associated with the words straight and cisgender. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>lesbian<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>bisexual<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>gay<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and transgender individuals may refer to themselves <strong>as queer<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"439\" height=\"585\" src=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/11\/What_does_queer_mean-edited.jpg\" alt=\"a transgender men\" class=\"wp-image-2427\" style=\"width:280px;height:374px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/11\/What_does_queer_mean-edited.jpg 439w, https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/11\/What_does_queer_mean-edited-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 439px) 100vw, 439px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>It may also be used by people who have <strong>a more complicated identity<\/strong> when it comes to their s*xuality or gender. Especially young people who find the term like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>trans<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>gay<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>lesbian<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>etc., too \u201cfinal\u201d for the stage of their life<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>They\u2019re the ones who may change their position in the spectrum from time to time. It\u2019s not as if they\u2019re undecided of their identity but <strong>a shift in s*xuality and gender<\/strong> is sometimes inevitable and it\u2019s not something out of the norm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Are transgender and queer the same?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A trans person can be transgender but identifies as queer at the same time. However, both words are not synonymous.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"469\" height=\"625\" src=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/11\/Are_transgender_and_queer_the_same-edited.jpg\" alt=\"a queer\" class=\"wp-image-2429\" style=\"width:280px;height:373px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/11\/Are_transgender_and_queer_the_same-edited.jpg 469w, https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/11\/Are_transgender_and_queer_the_same-edited-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 469px) 100vw, 469px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>For example, a transgender woman may identify as a heterosexual woman. While the other <strong>chooses to be queer <\/strong>because she\u2019s not straight or she just doesn\u2019t like associating herself with the common s*xual orientations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Are they pansexuals?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This gets more confusing because both spectrums can cross each others\u2019 paths from time to time. Pansexuals are people who are s*xually attracted to everyone no matter the s*xual orientation, male or female, or gender expressions.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"991\" height=\"557\" src=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/03\/Are_Queers_Pansexuals-edited.jpg\" alt=\"pansexuals people\" class=\"wp-image-5246\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/03\/Are_Queers_Pansexuals-edited.jpg 991w, https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/03\/Are_Queers_Pansexuals-edited-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/03\/Are_Queers_Pansexuals-edited-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 991px) 100vw, 991px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>However, <strong>not all queers are open to having s*x with anyone.<\/strong> As mentioned before, there\u2019s a chance that their s*xual identities or gender identities may undergo a shift from time to time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who can you call queer then?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Queer has a sad history<\/strong> because it was used as a derogatory term towards people with an alternative s*xual orientation. However, today, the word is proudly worn as a badge by a lot of people in the LGBTQIA (lesbian gay bisexual transgender queer intersexed asexual) community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re not part of the community, please don\u2019t use this word. Added to that, just because you\u2019re <strong>part of the LGBTQ community<\/strong>, it doesn\u2019t give you the right to call anyone queer without asking for their permission first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Don\u2019t use the word loosely<\/strong> if you don\u2019t want to offend anyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Am i queer?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you strongly believe that you\u2019re not a cisgender person and you\u2019re not heterosexual, <strong>you may be one of the queer people<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"440\" height=\"587\" src=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/11\/Am_I_queer-edited.jpg\" alt=\"two gay guys\" class=\"wp-image-2442\" style=\"width:280px;height:374px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/11\/Am_I_queer-edited.jpg 440w, https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/11\/Am_I_queer-edited-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 440px) 100vw, 440px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>If you feel that you don\u2019t fit the other spectrums of the LGBTQIA community, <strong>you may refer to yourself as one<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Is it hard to find a relationship if I\u2019m queer?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Being one is not a hindrance to finding love.<\/strong> Yes, there are transgender women who only prefer to be with heterosexual cisgender men. But this doesn\u2019t mean that there\u2019s no trans woman out there for you. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zoosk.com\/date-mix\/dating-advice\/emotional-attraction\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Emotional attraction<\/a> doesn\u2019t see labels, orientations, and identities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1280\" height=\"720\" src=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2021\/12\/queer_couple-edited.jpg\" alt=\"queer couple\" class=\"wp-image-4431\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2021\/12\/queer_couple-edited.jpg 1280w, https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2021\/12\/queer_couple-edited-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2021\/12\/queer_couple-edited-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2021\/12\/queer_couple-edited-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>If you truly believe that you\u2019re capable of giving and receiving love, your spectrum in the LGBTQIA doesn\u2019t matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why does the majority find it hard to understand queer\u2019s definition?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Just like the <a href=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/2020\/07\/all-about-gender-non-conformity\">gender non-conformist<\/a>, <strong>it has spectrums under it<\/strong>. Both are not as easy to define as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>lesbian<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>gay<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>bisexual<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>pansexual<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and transgender<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For you to cut the explanation short, you can simply say that you don\u2019t find yourself to be either cisgender or straight.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"440\" height=\"587\" src=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/11\/Why_does_the_majority_find_it_hard_to_understand_Queers_definition-edited.jpg\" alt=\"hands with a rainbow\" class=\"wp-image-2448\" style=\"width:280px;height:373px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/11\/Why_does_the_majority_find_it_hard_to_understand_Queers_definition-edited.jpg 440w, https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/11\/Why_does_the_majority_find_it_hard_to_understand_Queers_definition-edited-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 440px) 100vw, 440px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Doing so will close the doors for further questions (unless the person you\u2019re talking to keeps pushing your buttons).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[[SIGNUP]]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Do they experience discrimination too?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Everyone in the LGBTQIA community experiences discrimination. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just the mere mention of an alternative s*xual orientation may ruffle some feathers. <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"438\" height=\"584\" src=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/11\/Do_queers_experience_discrimination_too-edited.jpg\" alt=\"a guy\" class=\"wp-image-2452\" style=\"width:280px;height:373px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/11\/Do_queers_experience_discrimination_too-edited.jpg 438w, https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/11\/Do_queers_experience_discrimination_too-edited-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 438px) 100vw, 438px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><strong>Being one<\/strong> doesn\u2019t give you a pass because it\u2019s an umbrella term. In reality, <strong>queers get a lot of flak<\/strong> because some people don\u2019t believe that queers are labeled \u201ccorrectly\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A lot of people think that <strong>gender identities and s*xual orientations<\/strong> are black and white. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What they fail to realize is both categories can be divided into subcategories, hence the rainbow flag of <strong>the LGBT community<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Other spectrums of the LGBTQIA community<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For you to have a better understanding of how to differentiate it from other spectrums, listed below are the other spectrums and their definitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Lesbian<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Lesbians are women (cisgender or transgender) who are s*xually attracted to women. The majority of them exclusively date and sleep with women. <strong>There are many types of lesbians<\/strong>. Some of them are <em>lipstick lesbians<\/em> (women who dress up in a feminine way), <em>butch lesbians <\/em>(women who dress in a more masculine way), and the one in between.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"438\" height=\"584\" src=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/11\/Lesbian-edited.jpg\" alt=\"two lesbians\" class=\"wp-image-2456\" style=\"width:280px;height:372px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/11\/Lesbian-edited.jpg 438w, https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/11\/Lesbian-edited-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 438px) 100vw, 438px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Lesbians also sometimes call themselves gay but since we\u2019re talking about the LGBTQIA spectrum, let\u2019s move on to the meaning of G in the acronym.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gay (Gay Men)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Gays are men (cisgender or transgender) who are s*xually gravitated towards men. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The majority of them only date and have s*x with men. <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"382\" height=\"509\" src=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/11\/Gay-edited.jpg\" alt=\"two gay men\" class=\"wp-image-2460\" style=\"width:280px;height:374px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/11\/Gay-edited.jpg 382w, https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/11\/Gay-edited-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 382px) 100vw, 382px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Gays dress up differently. Some of them dress up and act in a very masculine way while others are called effeminate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Effeminates are the ones who still look like men but act and dress up with a feminine touch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bisexuals<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Bisexuals can either be transgender or cisgender. They\u2019re attracted to both men and women. The way they dress up and act is more varied because <strong>they represent all gender identities<\/strong>. Bisexuality is more on the section of <a href=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/2020\/09\/whats-the-difference-between-gender-and-sex\">sexual orientation rather than gender identity<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"433\" height=\"577\" src=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/03\/Bisexuals-edited.jpg\" alt=\"a bisexual person\" class=\"wp-image-5248\" style=\"width:280px;height:373px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/03\/Bisexuals-edited.jpg 433w, https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/03\/Bisexuals-edited-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 433px) 100vw, 433px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>However, they\u2019re only attracted to men and women and not other genders that gender non-conformists and queers identify with. Some of them even only prefer cisgender people and they\u2019re not attracted to transgender individuals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Transgender<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Transgender people are the ones who transition to the opposite gender that they\u2019ve been assigned at birth. <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1226\" height=\"689\" src=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/11\/Transgender-edited.jpg\" alt=\"an transgender person\" class=\"wp-image-2468\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/11\/Transgender-edited.jpg 1226w, https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/11\/Transgender-edited-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/11\/Transgender-edited-1024x575.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/11\/Transgender-edited-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1226px) 100vw, 1226px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>They dress up, talk, and act like the gender that they identify with and it\u2019s mostly either a man or a woman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Intersex<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Intersexed people are the ones who are born with conditions regarding their reproductive system or anatomy. For example, an individual might be born appearing to be female on the outside, but having mostly male-typical anatomy on the inside.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"439\" height=\"585\" src=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/03\/Intersex-1-edited.jpg\" alt=\"an intersex person\" class=\"wp-image-5191\" style=\"width:280px;height:373px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/03\/Intersex-1-edited.jpg 439w, https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/03\/Intersex-1-edited-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 439px) 100vw, 439px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>This has more to do with their \u201cunusual\u201d genetic condition. The reason why they\u2019re included in the rainbow is that they\u2019re often misunderstood and harassed for being born the way they are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Asexual<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Asexual people are not attracted to anyone s*xually. They may still feel attracted to a person emotionally, but never in a s*xual way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now that you\u2019re aware of the other spectrums, you\u2019ll be able to easily differentiate as to why queer isn\u2019t synonymous with any of them.
