Some people are attracted to people of a particular gender; others are attracted to people of more than one gender. Some are not attracted to anyone.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Gender Identity Expression<\/strong> &#8211; The ways in which a person identifies and\/or expresses their gender, including self-image, appearance, and embodiment of gender roles. One\u2019s s*x (e.g. male, female, intersex, etc.) is usually assigned at birth based on one\u2019s physical biology. One\u2019s gender (e.g. male, female, <a href=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/2020\/09\/what-is-queer-and-are-you-one\">genderqueer<\/a>, etc.) is one\u2019s internal sense of self and identity.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>One\u2019s gender expression (e.g. masculine, feminine, androgynous, etc.) is how one embodies gender attributes, presentations, roles, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Laws and Progress<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Albeit SOGIE\u2019s positive progress in countries such as the USA, Canada, UK, the majority of countries in Europe, and Australia, the vast majority (globally) still deprives people of their rights to own and live their genuine SOGIE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">USA<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Although <strong>the revolution of SOGIE rights<\/strong> in the US has been very good in Barrack Obama\u2019s presidency (read <a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/3816952\/obama-gay-lesbian-transgender-lgbt-rights\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Obama\u2019s 20-Year Evolution on LGBT Rights<\/a>), the hands of time\u2019s direction may be turning backward with the recent rules that President Trump\u2019s administration have been rolling out in the last quarter of his presidency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, SOGIE is still better in the US compared to other countries as same-sex marriage, medical support for transgender people, s*x marker and name change for trans individuals are still readily available in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Philippines<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The SOGIE of Filipinos are still unprotected in the Philippines\u2019 constitution as of 2020 but a lot of people have fought for the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/SOGIE_Equality_Bill\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SOGIE Equality Bill<\/a> to be passed into law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of the brave women who fought for the SOGIE Equality Bill in the Philippines are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sass Rogando Sassot<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Congresswoman Geraldine Roman<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Geena Rocero<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and more<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>As of today, same-sex marriage is still non-existent in the Philippines. Furthermore, transgender people can\u2019t still change their gender markers and names in their legal documents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Canada<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Canada seems to be the perfect country if you want to live a full life while expressing your genuine SOGIE. Same-sex marriage in Canada is legal and transgender individuals get to enjoy:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>change of gender markers in legal documents<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>name change<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>free transgender healthcare and surgery (all sponsored by the government)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Thailand<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Even if Thailand is also known as the country with the most beautiful transgender women, its laws are still surprisingly backward when it comes to SOGIE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While there are talks of legalizing same-sex marriage in Thailand, it is still non-existent as of today.
