However, if you truly want to embody an ally and be more purposeful to transgender people, keep reading.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This guide wasn\u2019t created to attack a group of people. This was <strong>created for educational purposes<\/strong> only. If you want to be a bona fide ally of the transgender community, you first must know\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Basic Transgender Knowledge<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you don\u2019t have a basic idea of what a trans person is, it\u2019s going to be hard for you to <strong>be a transgender ally<\/strong>. Transgender individuals are born with <a href=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/2024\/11\/gender-expression-vs-gender-identity-the-nuances\">a gender identity<\/a> opposing <a href=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/2022\/06\/afab-and-amab-a-brief-gender-study\">their assigned gender at birth<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In other words, a transgender woman was assigned male at birth but she identifies as female and a transgender man was assigned female at birth but he identifies as male.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They are not gender-neutral. Their gender expression is that of binary people; male or female. They may choose to undergo <a href=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/2020\/05\/what-to-expect-from-a-transgender-surgery\">a gender reassignment surgery<\/a> or not but their genitals don\u2019t define their gender.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Transsexual, on the other hand, is a more specific term that pertains to a transgender person who\u2019s planning to undergo or has already undergone a gender reassignment surgery. Transsexuals are divided into two groups:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/2019\/08\/denying-that-i-am-a-pre-op-transgender-woman\">the pre-op transsexuals<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/2019\/08\/denying-that-i-am-a-pre-op-transgender-woman\">the post-op transsexuals<\/a> <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>With the latter having undergone the gender reassignment surgery already.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Things You Need to Remember as a Trans Ally<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re serious about taking <strong>the role of an ally<\/strong>, you must adhere to certain rules and must remember certain things. Don\u2019t be daunted because these rules and things are quite easy to recall. The pattern of the flag from top to bottom is <strong>light blue &gt; light pink &gt; white &gt; light pink &gt; light blue<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>ight blue color represents the traditional color for baby boys<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>light pink color represents the traditional color for baby girls<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>while the white color represents people who are still transitioning to another gender or individuals who have a neutral or undefined gender.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Proper Pronouns<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you want to be truly trans-friendly, only address a trans woman with <a href=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/2020\/10\/the-international-pronouns-day\">the proper pronouns<\/a> such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>she<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>her<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>hers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>herself, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>And vice versa if you encounter a transgender man.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The utmost disrespect that one can do to a transgender individual is to <strong>discredit the gender<\/strong> that they identify with. You must do this in all aspects of life whenever you pertain to transgender people be it in verbal conversations or in writing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Don\u2019t Assume their S*xuality based on their Gender<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Another insulting thing that you can do is to assume someone\u2019s s*xual orientation based on their gender. This is the most common mistake that a&nbsp; hetero cisgender person does.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>Not all transgender people are heterosexuals<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/2017\/12\/transgender-women-who-date-transgender-women\">Some transgender women are into women<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>While <strong>some transgender men are into men<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Some bigots even go further to <strong>invalidate the gender dysphoria<\/strong> of a trans individual when they find out that he or she is a homosexual because they think that they should just detransition as they prefer the opposite s*x (genital-wise).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gender is Different from S*x<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In connection with the previous section, you must know that <a href=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/2020\/09\/whats-the-difference-between-gender-and-sex\">gender and sex are two different things<\/a>. Some transgender people enjoy using the s*x they were born with to make love and reproduce. This is why when talking about s*x, you must not assume a transgender person\u2019s s*xual role or desires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is just what makes transgender people more interesting because <strong>they\u2019re not easily read like a book<\/strong>. These range from:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>catcalls<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>verbal insults<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>being outed<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and public humiliation <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Most countries in the world <strong>don\u2019t have protection for transgender individuals<\/strong> and this is why things like these still occur up to this day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Workforce Discrimination<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A lot of transgender individuals, albeit being equipped with skills, experience, and education still don\u2019t get hired by companies for the sole reason of their gender identity. <strong>This is prevalent in the Asian region<\/strong> because a lot of Asian countries are still run by religion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Furthermore, if they do get the opportunity, their colleagues, bosses, and subordinates may also <strong>make them feel unwelcomed<\/strong>; giving them a harder time excelling at work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Romance Rejection<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In a world whereby love is portrayed to be for everyone, for some reason, when it comes to transgender individuals, <strong>love is more elusive<\/strong>. The reason being is that a lot of people (most especially men who are into transgender women), just want to <strong>use transgender people to fulfill their s*xual fantasies<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They\u2019re often <strong>dehumanized, fetishized, and trivialized<\/strong>. Furthermore, traditional relationships are still dominantly respected and preferred and this is what makes most transgender people somehow feel like an understudy when it comes to serious relationships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Violence and Abuse<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Violence seems to be a neverending occurrence when it comes to transgender people. It\u2019s surprising that in 2020, <strong>murders of transgender women seem to be of normalcy<\/strong> around the world as crimes like these are almost always in the headlines of newspapers every month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Added to that, transgender women <strong>aren\u2019t protected in most countries<\/strong> globally which makes them susceptible to rape and other s*xual attacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Travel, Establishments, and Toilets Discrimination<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Because the majority of <a href=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/2020\/12\/trans-rights-around-the-world\">the countries in the world still don\u2019t allow transgender people<\/a> to change their genders in their legal documents, traveling internationally can pose a challenge.
