We\u2019re also going to cover the area of <strong>trans women who are also fighting for women\u2019s rights<\/strong>. Yes, trans feminists exist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What are Feminists and what is Feminism?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In laymen\u2019s terms, feminists are <strong>individuals who fight for women<\/strong> to have an equal footing with men when it comes to rights, opportunities, privileges, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"900\" height=\"506\" src=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/03\/gagged_woman-edited.jpg\" alt=\"gagged woman\" class=\"wp-image-5259\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/03\/gagged_woman-edited.jpg 900w, https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/03\/gagged_woman-edited-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/03\/gagged_woman-edited-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>But to specifically define feminism, these involve socio-political movements with ideologies aiming to define and establish equality of all sexes in regards to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Economic<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Personal<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Political<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>sectors of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/topic\/feminism\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">According to Britannica<\/a>, feminism is <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>the belief in social, economic, and political equality of the sexes. Although largely originating in the West, feminism is manifested worldwide and is represented by various institutions committed to activity on behalf of women\u2019s rights and interests.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What are Trans Women?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Transgender women are born with genitals and s*x characteristics that are <strong>the opposite of what\u2019s usually identified with their gender<\/strong>. Because most medical facilities still define gender based on the genital organ that a baby\u2019s born with, a lot of transgender women have to go through transitioning either medically, physically, surgically, etc., to correct the misgendering that\u2019s done early on in their lives.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"952\" height=\"536\" src=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/03\/When_do_transgender_people_find_out_that_theyre_trans-edited.jpeg\" alt=\"a trans woman\" class=\"wp-image-5262\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/03\/When_do_transgender_people_find_out_that_theyre_trans-edited.jpeg 952w, https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/03\/When_do_transgender_people_find_out_that_theyre_trans-edited-300x169.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/03\/When_do_transgender_people_find_out_that_theyre_trans-edited-768x432.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 952px) 100vw, 952px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Trans_woman\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">According to Wikipedia<\/a>, a trans woman is <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>a woman who was assigned male at birth. Trans women have a female <a href=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/2024\/11\/gender-expression-vs-gender-identity-the-nuances\">gender identity<\/a>, may <a href=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/2020\/06\/the-gender-dysphoria-guide-and-what-you-must-know\">experience gender dysphoria<\/a>, and may transition; this process commonly includes <a href=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/2020\/05\/what-is-transgender-hormone-replacement-therapy\">hormone replacement therapy<\/a> and sometimes <a href=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/2020\/05\/what-to-expect-from-a-transgender-surgery\">gender reassignment surgery<\/a>, which can bring relief and resolve feelings of gender dysphoria.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>[[SIGNUP]]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Are trans women women?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Womanhood isn\u2019t defined like how it was in the dark ages anymore. Because people nowadays have access to knowledge about <a href=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/2020\/08\/transgender-issues-you-must-know\">social issues<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/2020\/10\/the-science-behind-transgender\">scientific information<\/a>, being a woman has nothing to do with just having a women genital anymore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It has become invalid because not only do trans women exist, <strong>but also trans men<\/strong> who are born with a women genital but identify as men.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"901\" height=\"507\" src=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/03\/trans_man-edited.jpg\" alt=\"trans man\" class=\"wp-image-5261\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/03\/trans_man-edited.jpg 901w, https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/03\/trans_man-edited-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/03\/trans_man-edited-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 901px) 100vw, 901px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aclupa.org\/en\/news\/trans-women-are-women-avoiding-mistakes-our-predecessors\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">An article by ACLUPA.org<\/a> further cements this statement, citing, <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>The women&#8217;s movement failed to acknowledge the intersectionalities of so many women and to include many changemakers who were deemed unworthy in the eyes of white supremacy. As a new day emerges, it is imperative to avoid repeating past mistakes. Black and brown women were erased from mainstream recounts of the suffrage movement, and some women today attempt to do the same to trans women. But the way forward must include the experiences of ALL women \u2014 cisgender, transgender, and especially women of color.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>There is a need within our work to be intentional about inclusion, to look at womanhood through an intersectional lens, and to recognize that trans women\u2014especially Black and brown\u2014have contributed to liberating marginalized people. Right here in Pennsylvania, trans women like Charlene Arcila and Jaci Adams fought for gender equity. And they did it all while being oppressed, excluded, unprotected, and left feeling unsupported as they laid their lives on the line for social change. Their stories and legacies should not be erased.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Challenges brought upon by TERFs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>While feminism fights for the equal rights of women and men, one of its <em>branches<\/em> such as <a href=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/2021\/01\/why-terf-is-harmful-to-transgender-women\">the TERFs (Trans-exclusive radical feminists)<\/a>, is curtailing the movement for equality by excluding trans women from the picture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These are individuals who believe that <strong>transgender women are not women<\/strong> and should not be included in their fights. One of the most famous TERFs is <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jk_rowling\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">J.K. Rowling<\/a>, who\u2019s also the author of the novel Harry Potter.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1036\" height=\"583\" src=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/03\/Challenges_brought_upon_by_TERFs-edited.jpg\" alt=\"a mad trans woman\" class=\"wp-image-5255\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/03\/Challenges_brought_upon_by_TERFs-edited.jpg 1036w, https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/03\/Challenges_brought_upon_by_TERFs-edited-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/03\/Challenges_brought_upon_by_TERFs-edited-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/03\/Challenges_brought_upon_by_TERFs-edited-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1036px) 100vw, 1036px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>She\u2019s quite vocal in expressing her disapproval of trans women on her social media platforms. Just recently, in 2022\u2019s international women\u2019s day, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jk_rowling\/status\/1500873562894258183\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">she tweeted<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>Multiple women\u2019s groups have presented well-sourced evidence to @NicolaSturgeon\u2019s government about the likely negative consequences of this legislation for women and girls, especially the most vulnerable. All has been ignored. If the legislation is passed \u00bd<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Her tweet gears towards <strong>putting trans women in a bad light<\/strong> to encourage people to believe that the rights of cisgender women are endangered because of <a href=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/2020\/12\/trans-rights-around-the-world\">trans women\u2019s rights<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to be a trans-inclusive feminist<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>First of all, you must know that both transgender women and cisgender women are <strong>fighting for the same goal, equality<\/strong>. However, even if the goal is the same, it\u2019s not as seemingly easy to achieve as it is. There are many nuances and differences when it comes to the approach to achieving such a goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is why, even if different countries advocate for peace and love, wars still happen. Going back to the main topic, yes, it\u2019s <strong>possible to be a trans-inclusive feminist<\/strong> and it\u2019s supposed to be the norm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"978\" height=\"550\" src=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/03\/How_to_be_a_trans-inclusive_feminist-edited.jpg\" alt=\"trans-inclusive women\" class=\"wp-image-5257\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/03\/How_to_be_a_trans-inclusive_feminist-edited.jpg 978w, https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/03\/How_to_be_a_trans-inclusive_feminist-edited-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/03\/How_to_be_a_trans-inclusive_feminist-edited-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 978px) 100vw, 978px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>For you to be a trans-inclusive feminist, these are the most important things to remember:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Transgender women are women.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Women, from all walks of life, no matter the color of their skin, their past, socio-economic status, race, etc., should achieve the same amount of respect, rights, and more, as any human being<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A person\u2019s gender and womanhood are only defined by that person alone.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Crimes and criminals are everywhere. Transgender women should not be marginalized based on theories and unfound fear of trans-radical feminists.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cisgender women and transgender women share a lot of the same struggles. Both deserve the same amount of rights and respect.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to be a trans feminist<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Feminism in trans community is rampant. This is why it\u2019s puzzling to see why influential cisgender women such as J.K. Rowling use her platform to <strong>plant hate and multiply the marginalization<\/strong> of trans people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But to get a headstart with being a trans feminist, you first must know <strong>the trans feminist symbol<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"883\" src=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/03\/Trans-Activism-Symbol-edited-768x883-1.png\" alt=\"trans activist symbol\" class=\"wp-image-5263\" style=\"width:192px;height:221px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/03\/Trans-Activism-Symbol-edited-768x883-1.png 768w, https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/03\/Trans-Activism-Symbol-edited-768x883-1-261x300.png 261w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>The symbol that\u2019s used by trans feminists is <a href=\"https:\/\/mytransgenderdate.com\/blog\/2020\/05\/all-about-the-transgender-symbol\">the same symbol for transgenderism<\/a>. The only difference it has is that it has <strong>a fist in the middle<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/emikoyama\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Emi Koyama<\/a>, a scholar and activist, trans feminism is<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>a movement by and for trans women who view their liberation to be intrinsically linked to the liberation of all women and beyond.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>To be a trans feminist, you have to remember a few things:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The struggles that women have been through and continue to go through.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contrary to what the patriarchal society says today, equality is still not omnipresent in the world.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Women have the right to their own body.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The road to equality is long and every effort helps.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Did you learn anything from this guide?
