She didn’t star in these movies and did not play roles of women as her transition started later after her acting career. She documented her transition through her TikTok series called Days of Girlhood which took the internet world by storm.

Along with these roles, she also performed in open mics at various night clubs.
Rise to TikTok Fame and Days of Girlhood
The pandemic became a blessing in disguise as many people were glued to their devices. This is when Dylan decided to create content on TikTok where she sang with animals. Her singing videos were a hit and she got a lot of followers from the famous social media platform.
But what ultimately made her not only famous on TikTok, but helped her make headlines was her series Days of Girlhood. In it, she documented her transition from day one to thousands of her audience. Because of her openness and vulnerability, she gained millions of followers.
In Days of Girlhood, she shared why she didn’t want to change her name. She was also open with how she felt during her hormone replacement therapy. Along with medical information, she also shared her highs as a woman, specifically on day 54, when she was crowned Diamond of the Season. She obtained her title in Netflix’s event called The Queen’s Ball: A Bridgerton Experience, where fans of the show attended a Regency era-themed ball.
However, albeit she was well-loved for her perky and cheerful personality, she was also open about her lows as a woman. On Day 71, she shared her experience when an Uber driver made her uncomfortable during a ride.
Controversies
While millions of followers and brand deals with MAC, CeraVe, Neutrogena, and Kate Spade were on the table, she still faced controversies. Like any other celebrity, she was bombarded by negativity and opposing views from fellow celebrities and netizens.
Caitlyn Jenner on Dylan Mulvaney
Just like Dylan, Caitlyn Jenner is also a well-known transgender celebrity. Their rift started when Caitlyn saw the video that Senator Marsha Blackburn tweeted. It was an old video of Dylan trying to normalize the transgender woman crotch.
In the video, Dylan shared her struggle with wearing tight clothes as people would naturally be drawn to the bulge between her legs. As a solution, she encouraged everyone to normalize the bulge. She shared,
women having bulges—Normalize the bulge
and continued singing the words,
We are normalizing the bulge. Women can have bulges, and that’s ok. We’re not gonna stare at their crotches.
Senator Blackburn commented that Dylan’s opinions were absurd and Caitlyn seconded her view through a series of tweets. Along with her Caitlyn’s approval, she misgendered Mulvaney and sent her public messages through a series of tweets.
Let’s not ‘normalize’ any of what this person is doing—There is a difference between acceptance and tolerance, and normalizing exposing your genitals in a public way and a public place—I do not support that at all, in the slightest. Dylan…congrats your trans with a penis.
Jenner tweeted.
Tampon Backlash
In one of her TikToks, Dylan shared the reason why she’ll start putting tampons in her bag even if she doesn’t menstruate. She shared a story on how guilty she felt when a stranger asked her if she had a tampon when she was in a female’s restroom.
Albeit she shared that her intentions were pure, she still faced backlash because of it. Some Twitter users even threatened to cancel Tampax, the brand who sent her a PR package for her video.
One user with the name @CrownOnMyFrown tweeted,
Dylan & Jeffrey Marsh, both biological males, are now sponsored by sanitary products companies @Tampax & @phluidproject. You literally couldn’t make this sh*t up. Two more companies off my list then – two that I would have given money to as I actually HAVE periods FFS.
Dylan Mulvaney and Her Plans
Just recently, Dylan has underwent facial feminization surgery, which is another series that blew up on her TikTok. Many of her fans were excited for the reveal and true to her promises, she didn’t let them down.
She documented her experience with the surgery and even paraded her new feminine look into the 2023 edition of the Grammy’s. Not only was she invited into the academy awards, but she also got to meet one of her idols, Laverne Cox.
Laverne is one of the most famous and revered transgender actresses in Hollywood. During their cute meeting that she shared on TikTok, she told Laverne that meeting her was included in her 2023 vision board. She was delighted to meet Laverne and it was obvious with the way she gushed while having a conversation with her.
During their brief conversation, Laverne gave her words of wisdom. She told Dylan that she didn’t have to share everything online and that it’s important to keep things for herself.
It’s insane that you’re like documenting so much of your life—make sure you keep things for yourself, everything cannot be for the public. They love it, yes they love it but everything cannot be for them—I know girl we know, it’s all over TikTok.
Activism
Albeit she doesn’t champion specific organizations yet, she’s active in spreading transgender awareness. During a NowThis News interview, she had the chance to sit down for a filmed interview with no less than the President of the United States, Joe Biden.
In it, she bravely asked his thoughts on whether or not states have a right to ban gender-affirming healthcare to which he answered,
I don’t think any state or anybody should have the right to do that, as a moral question and as a legal question—no state should be able to do that in my view.
Dylan is just beginning her career as a celebrity and influencer and she has already done a lot of positive things for the trans community. She’s vocal on continuing her cause and it’s exciting to see what the future holds for her.
